In the 10+ years I’ve been working on the web, I’ve dabbled with offering various short form one-to-one services to help people with their websites.
I’ve always felt the most enjoyable and impactful version of this is an hour-long video call where we can work through a design problem together.
I like this format because:
The real-time nature lets me get more context and helps us tease at any underlying issues
Pairing on a problem opens up the thinking in how we might solve an issue, and the process can be more valuable than the outcome
Delivering feedback in-person reduces the chance of it being misconstrued
A one-off call lets people access my skills and experience without committing to a big project
I haven’t formally offered consultations for a few years, but in recent times I’ve had several designers and developers ask me for design advice/feedback on projects they’re working on.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to open up some availability in my schedule to offer regular time for design guidance.
