We’ll usually kick off with a small discovery project. This is a flexible project that lets us experience working together without too much risk.

You’ll have lots of opportunities to see and feedback on work-in-progress. We’ll schedule a standing weekly call to keep things moving.

I think and design in components and modules, rather than pages. This is how developers think, and the end result is a flexible system we can use to build your site.

Practicalities

I’m flexible on how we engage a project: I can work for a fixed period of time, in an ongoing/retained capacity or as a consultant to periodically call upon.

I charge on a time and materials basis. Over the years, I’ve found this to be a flexible and transparent pricing structure for everyone.

In 2024, my smallest engagement was 25 hours and the highest was 420 hours. Projects vary greatly, but a block of 50–75 hours is usually a good starting point.

For a range of practical reasons, it’s usually simpler if I contract directly with you.
